[This is a video. This is a video of man vs. cat - the cat, in this case, being black and one-eyed, much like a ninja pirate, and just as effective. Edmund places the cat outside of his room, and after waiting there for a minute, serenely cleaning his paws, the cat goes back in the room. There is a small yowl, and a minute later the cat is deposited back outside.

And then another minute passes, and the cat returns to the room at a trot. There is a yelp - human, this time - and some mild swearing, and the cat is once more put outside.

This is now personal.

The cat doesn't even wait this time to re-enter. There's a yowl, a human yelp, and a crash!, and then the cat is streaking out of the room, and Edmund follows a minute later]

....Shadow, this isn't your room to begin with.

[And he notices the network device recording]

Oh, dear, that must be a mess. I'm glad to hear no one was hurt, though.

I'm pretty sure that this is revenge for something.

Well, have you stepped on his tail lately, perhaps?

I--no, no, of course not, I didn't mean that at all! I just--I was only thinking of reasons why a cat might want to take revenge, and--

It's because I keep putting him out.

Oh. And he doesn't like being told that he can't be in, and that's why he's upset? I suppose that makes sense, yes.

He thinks my bed belongs to him. I don't know how a ten pound cat manages to take over an entire bed, but he does.

I wish I could be of more help, really, but I'm afraid I don't know much about handling cats at all. Could you put him out and shut the door, perhaps?

If I close the door he sits there and whines to come in.

Mm. And listening to that would get very old very fast, I'm sure.

I'm not sure what made him choose my room. Lucy loves him. Susan likes him.

And yet he overlooks them to bother you? Perhaps you're right about it being some sort of revenge, then. My horse is rather like that, too--particular about who he does and doesn't like, I mean.

Is he here? Your horse, that is?

He is, yes. My best friend...he brought him here as a Christmas present for me a few years ago.

How long have you been here?

It was two years this month, actually. August second. So I've had two Christmases here now, and this one coming up will be my third.

Not as long as my sisters, then. But longer than Peter.

And not as long as Caspian, either, I think. It seems like he's been around as long as I have, at least, but I haven't kept track that closely.

And apparently I've been here before too, but I don't remember.

I've had that happen before. Not personally, I mean--I haven't been home at all since I arrived. But I've had friends leave and come back without remembering anything at all.

That sounds awkward.

It is, very much so. You have so many memories of them and they've completely forgotten all of it, so while they're no stranger to you...you're a complete stranger to them. It's rather awful, really.

A lot of people here know me but I don't know them.

I worry that I'm hurting them by having forgotten.

But you can't help that, really. And even if it does hurt, remembering when someone else has forgotten, at least there's still the chance to make new memories together in the future. That's what really matters, I think.
